Malaysia Car Hire & Travel Information

The rapid modernisation of parts of Malaysia mean that there are plenty of attractions for you to visit – here are just a few for you to consider for your trip.

The Batang Rejang River leads you into main tribal areas of Borneo.  If you visit during May and June you can visit the homes of the Iban tribe.  This tribe has traditions that have remained unchanged for centuries and you can have the help of a local guide to show you around the region.

If you hire a car in Malaysia you can head out of Kuala Lumpur to the Batu Caves.  These are limestone caverns that are filled with stalactites and they are now a dedicated Hindu shrine.  Pilgrims come in January and February each year as part of the Thaipusam festival.  You can also spend some time exploring the Cameron Highlands, within the hills to the north of Kuala Lumpur.  There are tea plantations here alongside hill resorts and visitors spend time trekking through the area as well as tea-tasting!

The Gunung Mulu National Park used to be where the head-hunting tribes resides but it is now a World Heritage Site.  It is home to the world’s most extensive cave system.  There are some which are open to the public and plenty of others that you can explore if you join one of the organised expeditions.  There is a head-hunter’s trail that has been opened for trekking and you can also spend time climbing to the Pinnacles.

Take a trip to Kota Bharu.  This town lies close to the border with Thailand and it is a great place to find out more about the culture and the traditions of the region.  Here you can see the shadow puppet shows and the traditional kites as well as enjoying a meal at the famous night market.  The region has many festivals held throughout the year.

To find out more about the colonial past of the country, make the most of your Malaysia car hire and head to Malacca.  This is the oldest city in the country and used to be the capital used by the Malay sultans and settlers.  It can be found on the west coast of the country just a couple of hours’ drive from Kuala Lumpur.  The architecture here is Dutch and Portuguese colonial and there is a unique cuisine here that is a blend of Chinese, Malay and Indian. is part of Ecommerce Group NV., which offers a range of Ecommerce services.
